Just for a moment

Just for a moment, pretend that you love me
Only for a day look at me like I’m beautiful to you
Hold my hand the way you did with her, your eyes adoring
Sing to me songs of aching need, your voice poetry to my ears
Breathless wonder at thoughts of your love
Kisses like rain on your face, melting sweetness
Externally silent, while my soul screams your name
I can never tell you
I cannot cross that bridge
You will never hear me speak the words
Your very presence pains me
My heart a constant ache
I quietly endure it all, to be close to you
To love you is folly
To touch you is bliss
So I will be, for you, whatever you need
Ever mindful of the abyss
My love for you is a book
Kept bound tightly shut
Locks & buckles forever in place
The story never to be told
The binding never cracked
The tale will not unfold
I keep it locked away, you see
No one will ever know,
The story of how I loved you,
Because you did not love me

Nice

I like the way you picture secret love. Nicely worded, full of emotion and longing to be loved. Nice work!
