DESTINY
Where is the door that leads me to my destiny?
If I could only rediscover, even retrieve
At least a portion of the things I used to understand.
My life tends to flow like a stream through a forest
Green, sometimes serene.
Mind probing but I can never find its end.
Please tell me why I can’t heed the pull.
I used to have love of life, even know my own mind,
But why is my sky so grey?
Sitting there sweet pimple on a mountain top
As clouds gather and envelop you, and me
Where does land end and sky begin?
Where does my life end, and what of my soul?
Softly, slowly, silently my way is being shown,
Perhaps my love is the answer!
Please don’t lock away your heart, keep it free
Maybe someday I’ll get to know all the answers.
When life is divided from the true reality
It is easy to hide from the soul.
I want to give myself up.
Who’ll take my life and show me my way?
When darkness encroaches at the end of my day
And spreads its searching fingers into my mind,
Two causeways are put before my soul.
My hopes, my dreams, my beliefs
Stretch in front of me like a portrait,
But is the portrait of me?
Soon I’ll find an existence within myself,
Maybe I’ll even find love.
Why does my mind keep closing on the things I strive to believe in?
My door stands open but I will not enter.
The dark recesses of my mind beckon my soul
To follow blindly into its abyss.
A light shines from above and I enter,
Always look up to that light, guide me
And I’ll follow.
Strange visions overcome me and prevent me,
They pull at my spirit, what entity are you?
I slip, and fall away from light, into darkness,
And I realise.
I will wander through the garden of my mind,
Thoughts mirrored by echoes of the past.
Life is remembered as dawn on a summer’s day,
Skin tingling, as kissed by the sun
It ripens and blossoms, from red, to brown, to gold.
Bring the sun back home, to our lives, to our souls.
Stare into the heart of a mountain, aren’t they like us,
Loving the sun for making our lives so beautiful?
Heart hardened by the dread of coming darkness
Soul lightened by dawn inevitable
Of a new born day.
Dawn crashes as crimson spears
Burst darkness assunder with power that it alone holds.
Watered eyes stare liquid, receives the light
Which darkness strove so hard to hide.
I gaze into your eyes, my eyes
Do I see past reflected, or future withheld?
Please don’t lock away your heart, keep it free,
Maybe someday I’ll get to know all the answers.
Snow fast, remain white, life to be pure.
Driven home, vast revival, life renewed,
Penetrating the confusion of an existence which
Has never really been understood.
Staring cloudlike at the sun, its children
Are there to reassure. Life is there for the joy,
Do not use me as a weapon, for I am life
And death is not my joy.
Realisation is the key to the door of omnipotence,
Ignorance is that warden which
Lust pays in wages of degradation. Realisation
Take this, soul searcher, child man, myself.
I’d love to hold your heart
If you would cherish my existence.
Yesterday, sun shaken, mind blowing free,
I saw my life, how forlorn you looked.
Remain with me life lover, dream catcher.
My soul scourged with self pity and doubt
Reflected in eyes of brown, which stared unseeingly
Into the golden face of a previously unseen reality.
Oh how blind I am, a fool in poet’s clothing,
A soul lost within itself.
Take my heart to a place where it will find a friend.
I’ll find truth within harsh reality.
So please don’t lock away your heart, keep it free,
For someday soon I’ll get to know all the answers.
