LOVE POEMS

lefalcon's picture

Tropical Torrent (The Rain)

The rain fell slant-ways that day
Sending poisoned arrows down
Deep under my umbrella,
And lost in the onslaught, my heart
Was searching...searching,
For a face in which to shelter.

All around in the dismal streets
The gathering pools of gray
Were reflecting their sadness up-wards...
And the cold disdain of the wind...
The cold disdain of the wind...

Left me to wonder:-
What else is there in the world,
But days that are too wet...too dry?
Days spoilt by love's sweet overflow,
Days spent without love's joy?

The Sun And The Moon

If I can't be the Sun for you
I'll be the Moon
For surely the Sun gives his warmth to others
As the moon fills your nights
With tender dreams.

If I can't be the Sun for you
I'll be the Moon
For surely the Sun gives his light to others
As the Moon reflects your light
For you, and you alone;
For I have no light of my own
Or so it seems.

I revolve around you, and you alone,
And when the Sun goes high at noon,
You will not notice that I'm there
Still much closer to you
Than he's ever been.

Thank you for the comment. Without implying that I am one, I would like to state that I believe Genius is simplicity. By this I mean that when someone experiences a work of art, whatever the medium, his or her reaction should be 'this is so true...or real...or moving...why could'nt I have done something like this?'.

What do you think about my three other poems under the heading 'Poems About Love'?

metaphor!

I like the way you use metaphor in both poems! Simple, yet I find the message epic in thoughts. Please post more poems!
