I dream to have wings and soar up high. Flee all the hurt and pain. Or run to a happy place, never ever cry. Always just sunshine, no clouds or rain. Once, I saw a light, pining, inviting. The comforting warmth enticed me. Though I thought twice, it was tempting. So I let light set me free.

I found a key to unlock the chain. But freedom's too much price to pay. I gave in to escape, though short and vain. Well, until I find the right words to say. And if I lose hope and embrace my fate, I will vow secrecy is engraved as skin. When love's worn out or forgets too late, let demons slumber with its original sin.

Christmas in the Philippines

Christmas is in the air
as I go everywhere
Decorations of green, silver and
gold
In preparation for the celebration of the birth of our Lord.

Trees of green so tall
Decorated with ribbons, lights and balls
The main attraction I find as I visit most malls
As I and friends go for a stroll.

So busy it seems everyone
Buying cards and gifts for their loved ones
Checking carefully every name in their list
To make sure no one is missed.

How nice it is to see in every mall you want to be
Couples and their kids together so happy
As they go mall hopping as a family.

List in hand as he calls each man
Long troop lines which he takes command
Making sure everything is complete
Before he leads his men to the battlefield.

To the battlefield they all march along
Away from loved ones for quite so long
Never knowing what lies ahead
Either each returns home wounded or dead.

Life of a soldier is such as this
Full of uncertainties, takes a lot of courage
To defend our Motherland at any cost
He gives his own life for this cause.

Man in uniform to us is he
Mighty defender of our beloved country
For everything done for us citizenry

Autumn

Was there summer before the autumn of his love?
Was there dawn before the dusk of his skin?

I do not remember…I carry him inside my eyelids…damp and full of love…

I do not remember what my life was like before him…but I feel free; freer than I was ever before…

Everyday during my endless journey from home to office and office to home, I close my eyes and spend some time with him. And ever since, these 3 hours of journey has begin to appear too short…I don’t get enough time with him…

Through my damp eyes I see him and collect him beneath my lashes…
I recollect the warmth of his embrace and his words each day…over and over again…relieving each moment…

A Wish To Go Back

Waves of depression roll over me like a great tidal wave. Engulfing me in deep, thick blue darkness. Sadness so deep that it touches the inner core of my soul and presses on my spine.

Making me wish to forego past meetings and love. Wishing things undone that brought such light and joy, but which were followed with despair, distress and anxiety.

Oh how I wish I’d never seen the difference. Never experienced the joy. Never known the light. Never saw that beauty. Never felt the love.

Hope is what I hang onto. Like a frayed rope. Hang there, do nothing, and it will hold you for a time. Try to climb out and the rope will snap dropping you into the abyss.
